Invasion Games Week 2

Grade 4:

The grade 4's have been working on their soccer skills. We have been practising our dribbling, passing and shooting and have just started to play some real games. Next week we will be putting our skills on display in different tournament style games.




Grade 5:

The grade 5's have also been practising their soccer skills. We have spent time learning the basic skills of soccer while also discussing strategy and proper ways to defend. The students have enjoyed getting to play soccer in class and are showing real skills. Next week we will be playing games in a tournament style for the students to show off their skills.








Grade 6:

The grade 6's have been learning about ultimate frisbee. We have been practising our backhand throws and our pancake catches. The students spent time learning some strategy and have started trying to play some games. The students will showcase their skills next week in a tournament style of games.

Grade 7:

The grade 7's have been learning about ultimate frisbee for the last while. We have practised our skills of the forehand and the backhand throws and two handed and one handed catches. We also spent time learning proper defensive positioning and offensive strategy. The students have started to play games and have been showcasing these skills. Next week we will be doing some fitness classes and wrapping up our frisbee portion of the class.

Invasion Games

Grade 4: Students began their new unit this week by starting their study of soccer. We will be spending two weeks on soccer before moving on to a new invasion sport. In each unit we will be working on the main skills and rules before playing games. The students should be doing their best to learn skills and apply them in a game situation.





Grade 5: Students began their new unit this week by starting their study of soccer. We will be spending two weeks on soccer before moving on to a new invasion sport. In each unit we will be working on the main skills and rules before playing games. The students should be doing their best to learn skills and apply them in a game situation.














Grade 6:Students began their new unit this week by starting their study of ultimate frisbee. We will be spending two weeks on frisbee before moving on to a new invasion sport. In each unit we will be working on the main skills and rules before playing games. The students should be doing their best to learn skills and apply them in a game situation.



Grade 7: We have started our second sport of our invasion games unit which is ultimate frisbee. We learned the main skills required and the rules this week and started playing small games. Next week we will be playing games and the students will be assessed on their retention of the rules and their ability to apply skills in a game situation.

End of Cooperative Games

Grade 4: We spent this week wrapping up our cooperative games unit. The students got a chance to carry out some of their tasks and challenges that they planned for the rest of their class. The students showed their understanding of the importance of sportsmanship, cooperation and communication. Next week we will be starting our unit on invasion games with a study of soccer skills.

Grade 7: We wrapped up our study of soccer this week and the students showed their skills that they have been developing over the past few weeks. We will be starting our next unit of ultimate frisbee next week. This is all part of a larger unit covering all invasion games.

The New Dome

A lot of exciting things happened this week. Check it out:

Grade 4: This week we had a couple rainy days inside so we took some time to work on our fitness and practice some exercises. The students recorded different exercises they could do and set goals for exercises they want to be able to do. We also started going to the new dome on Wednesday and Thursday and the students got to experience the new facility.





Grade 5: We have been playing the games that the students planned and the students have become the teachers. The classes have been working on teaching a game to their classmates and including all of the rules and structure. We also got to go to the new dome on Wednesday and Thursday and the students got to experience the new facility. It looks great! The students also went on a golf trip this week and got to showcase their golf swings and learn from a pro. Well done to everyone on their golfing!



Grade 6: Students have been teaching the classes their new games that they have planned. They are very creative and interesting and we are having a lot of fun playing them. The students are also practicing being teachers which is eye opening for them. This Wednesday and Thursday we also got to go experience the new dome. The facility is beautiful and the students had lots of fun. We will be using the dome for all classes from now on until the new gym facility in the Hilton is complete.The students also went on a golf trip this week and got to showcase their golf swings and learn from a pro. Well done to everyone on their golfing!



Grade 7: This week the grade sevens continued their soccer practice and got to go to the Old Pro Driving Range to practice their golf skills. All the students showed an excellent effort and had a lot of fun showing off their swings We also got to go to the new dome and experience the new facility. The students loved the new dome and turf!
