Another busy week

Grade 4: Students had a very busy week at St. Jude's. We planned our own challenges to share with the class, ran the Terry Fox run, and started playing our challenges. Students showed great creativity in their challenges for their classmates. We will be continuing with these challenges next week! Thank you so much for everyone who donated to the Terry Fox run and to all the students who ran so hard! Well Done!

Grade 7: We have been playing soccer and doing our fitness testing this week. We are quickly coming to the end of our soccer unit and the students have shown great improvements. We only have a few more classes left before moving on to our next invasion game. Thank you to all the students who donated and ran for Terry Fox! It was terrific to see so many students out and running. Don't forget next week is the golf trip! If you would like to bring your own golf clubs you are welcome to do that!

Teamwork is key to success!

We have come to the end of another great week. The students have worked hard and we have almost completed our first units. Here is a look at what we have been doing this week.

Grade 4:

This week we spent time learning sportsmanship and trying to combine all the skills we have learned. These skills have included teamwork, cooperation, communication, trust and sportsmanship. More pictures to come next week!


Grade 5:

This week we spent time learning our last few skills which included sportsmanship, communication through body language and leadership. The students then tried to combine all of the skills we have learned so far in game play. Some of the activities included submarine tag, human tic-tac-toe and capture the flag.










Grade 6:

This week we spent time learning our last few skills which included sportsmanship, leadership and accountability. The students spent time defining what these words mean and how they can apply them both in game and in life. We then tried to apply these skills in different cooperative games. More pictures to come next week!

Grade 7: 

This week we worked on rules and strategy of a soccer game. We practiced give and go's, through balls, and passing through a defender. We also practiced our throw ins from the side line and discussed how a corner kick can impact a game. We then played different games that encouraged teamwork, and the ability to read your teammates and make accurate passes. The students showed an ability to apply the skills they learn in the drills to a game situation.

Communication and Sportsmanship

Grade 4:

We have been working on communication and sportsmanship skills this week. The students took part in cooperative games that displayed their communication and sportsmanship skills. Students have been trying to make sure they are treating everyone in the class with respect and sportsmanship, win or lose.

Grade 7: 

We have been working on our passing and receiving skills and our shooting skills. the students have been working on accuracy of passes and shots. We also had our first fitness class this week where the students completed a circuit, practicing fitness tasks. Next week will be game play and rules.
