The students have been busy the last few weeks as we have started our health units. Check out what each grade has been up to below!
Grade 4: The grade 4's have been displaying their health knowledge with lessons on physical and mental health. We have done some work about nutrition and exercise and talked about the right amount of sleep. The students have been able to pick exercises that they can do and practice them in class. We have also been using skipping as a form of exercise to help us prepare for Jump Rope for Heart, which is coming up on Thursday, Feb.14!
Grade 5: The grade 5's have been learning about making healthy choices for their life, including meal planning, exercise and hygiene. They have made their own fitness bingo cards and have been able to demonstrate many different exercises for their different muscle groups. We have also been practicing our skipping and helping the SK's and grade 1's learn how to properly jump rope!
Grade 6: We have been learning about overall health including our physical, mental, emotional and social health. The students have done work on their self concept and how we can better our belief of ourselves. We have also been working on how we would like others to treat us in a hope that that will spur on a more positive attitude towards others!
Grade 7: The grade 7's have just about finished their summative tasks for this unit, presenting their games that they created. As we finish our summative tasks we will be starting our next round of fitness testing. Hopefully the students have been keeping fit and working on their fitness goals so they can see improvement from their initial testing!
