The students finished up their particular sport this week and will be beginning a new sport next week. They worked hard and showed much improvement over the last few weeks. This week also included some Halloween fun for the students as w played some Halloween games and the students on Wednesday got to take part in Phys. Ed. in their Halloween Costumes.
Grade 4:
We finished our soccer study this week. The students put the skills they have been learning into action by displaying their dribbling, passing and shooting in a tournament. The students were separated into teams and got to participate in a round robin style tournament to display their soccer skills and their teamwork and communication skills. Our next unit of study will be a few weeks on handball, taking place in the new gym facility!
Grade 5:

They also displayed their knowledge of main strategies like moving to open space and running give and go plays to make opponents miss. The students were separated into teams and got to participate in a round robin style tournament to display their soccer skills and their teamwork and communication skills. Our next unit of study will be a few weeks on handball, taking place in the new gym facility!
Grade 6:
The grade 6 students have been practicing their frisbee skills. We have worked on backhand passes and two hand or pancake catches. The students have learned how to defend and how to attack and put these strategies on display in a round robin style tournament. The students showed terrific growth in their understanding of the rules and by the end of the study were able to play independently and officiate the game amongst themselves without help or arguments. Our next unit will be ball hockey in the new gym facility beginning next week!
Grade 7:
The grade 7 students have been working on their frisbee skills in their invasion games unit as well as finishing up their preliminary fitness tests in order to measure their fitness level at this time. The students then set goals for something fitness related that they would like to accomplish this year and will be working towards achieving our goals throughout the year. We are also starting our new unit of Aesthetic Movement next week! This unit will be about movement patterns and games that require students to display specific movements in order to be successful. This unit will include a study of ball hockey, some time spent on low organizational cooperative games and possibly a dance feature. We will be using the new gym facility next week so come prepared with clean indoor shoes and different shoes to wear outdoors.
